Lawmakers Plan Votes to Stop Aborted Fetal Tissue Sales

M j, Y

Lawmakers in Wisconsin are attempting to pass legislation that “would ban the sale of aborted fetal tissue and tighten regulations on fetal remains restrictions.” Leaders in Wisconsin’s House believe they have the votes to pass the legislation and that it would likely pass in the Senate. The Senate plans to take up the legislation in November. “Those of us up here believe that when a child is aborted, the last thing that needs to be done to the dignity of that human life is to be shipped off, sliced up and put into test tubes and Petri dishes. When it comes to the integrity of an aborted fetus, there really is no compromise,” said Representative Kleefisch. The company, Cures For Tomorrow, opposes the legislation saying, “The bill would reach into labs and end ongoing, pioneering research on heart disease, cancer, infectious disease, and neurological and developmental disorders.” Wisconsin Family Action’s said, “We don’t oppose research at all. What we want is research done using ethical materials done in an ethical way.” The legislation does not impose criminal penalties for violating the law. But they would impose civil forfeitures.

Iran Taking Steps To Leave Nuclear Agreement

M j, Y

Iran is taking steps to blame the United States for the breakdown of the nuclear agreement. Iran has identified what it claims are 18 instances of the United States violating the agreement. Iran sent the leaders of the European Union “a plethora of information recounting what it claims are 18 separate violations of the deal by the United States.” The United States is trying to walk a thin line by trying to stay in the nuclear agreement but also strengthen it so as to force Iran to comply with the spirit of the agreement. The Trump administration wants to impose sanctions on Iran “for its ballistic missile program and regional support of terrorism.” A spokesman for the State Department said, “The United States continues to meet its commitments under the JCPOA and will hold Iran strictly accountable for its commitments.” A congressional adviser said, “Iran was never going to stay in the deal the full time. They were going to cheat as much as they could, pocket as much as they could, and then bail as soon as anyone tried to enforce the deal.”

Virginia Democrats Equate Republican Candidate With White Supremacists

M j, Y

Democrat Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ralph Northam released a mailer showing a picture of President Trump and Republican gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie superimposed on a photo of white nationalists marching with tiki torches. The copy on the mailing tells voters, “On Tuesday, November 7th, Virginia gets to stand up to hate.” Gillespie’s digital director said that the Democrats “had reached a ‘new low: exploiting Charlottesville tragedy to score political points.’” Ed Gillespie has disavowed the white nationalists since they showed up in Charlottesville. He’s maintained that they are “off the political spectrum.” Virginia’s Governor Terry McAuliffe defended the mailer in a “Ask the Governor” session on a local radio station. He claimed that he had not seen the mailer but said “he believes its creators are tying to make the point he has been addressing.” McAuliffe said that the ads that Gillespie is running against Northam are much like the “hatred” and “bigotry” of those on the alt-right, KKK, and white supremacists. He said there was “no difference.” Virginia’s gubernatorial election is considered a referendum on the presidential election. Gillespie has recently surged in the polls and has overtaken Northam. President Trump lost Virginia in the presidential election.

Biden Keeps Options Open for 2020

M j, Y

Former Vice President Joe Biden is keeping his options open for 2020. “I haven’t decide to run, but I’ve decided I’m not going to decide not to run.” He made the remarks in an interview with Vanity Fair. Biden decided against running in the 2016 campaign because of the the death of his son in 2015 of brain cancer. He’s remarked several time that in retrospect he wished he had run. Biden said that when he decides whether or not to run he would consider the effect on his family. “You don’t run by yourself. Your family is totally implicated. They become news; they become fodder.” Ashley Biden, the daughter of the former Vice President said that she believed her father is planning on a run. “If he is in good health, knock on wood, and seeing that the landscape is at the time, yeah, I think he is considering it.” The 2020 campaign will be tumultuous. President Trump has so far proved to be polarizing. Now that the Democrats have been shown to be behind the “dossier” and their Russian collusion investigation is failing, the party may end up being discredited.

Congress Pursues FBI’s Part In Dossier Manufacture

M j, Y

Now that the Trump “dossier” funding has been pinned on the Clinton campaign, investigators will be looking at the FBI’s involvement in its manufacture. In October 2016, Christopher Steele, the ex-British spy hired by Fusion GPS, contacted the FBI with the information he’d collected in the document. The Washington Post reported in February 2017 that Steele “reached an agreement with the FBI a few weeks before the election for the bureau to pay him to continue his work.” The FBI was funding opposition research that was commissioned by the Clinton campaign. Senator Chuck Grassley of Ohio wrote, "The idea that the FBI and associates of the Clinton campaign would pay Mr. Steele to investigate the Republican nominee for president in the run-up to the election raises further questions about the FBI's independence from politics, as well as the Obama administration's use of law enforcement and intelligence agencies for political ends.” Representative Nunes and Senators Grassley and Graham, have been pressing the FBI to say whether or not the “information from the dossier [was used] as a basis for warrant requests before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.” To date, the FBI has been stalling on requests for document production related to the dossier.
