White House chief of staff John Kelly made an emotional statement to the White House press corps defending President Trump’s phone call to the widow of a Green Beret killed in Niger. Kelly is a retired Marine Corps general who lost his son in Afghanistan. He said that the words used by President Trump about the soldier knowing what he was getting into were actually suggested by Kelly himself.
Kelly also said he was stunned that Democratic Congresswoman Frederica Wilson listened in on the call and then criticized the President. Kelly said that the death of any American soldier is sacred. Wilson responded by insulting Kelly.
