Attorney Petitions to Have Comey Disbared

Oct 20, 2017

Attorney Ty Clevenger is petitioning the New York Bar to disbar former FBI Director James Comey. In his petition, Clevenger accuses “Comey of lying to Congress and destroying potential evidence in the Clinton email scandal. . . “ Comey testified before Congress that he did not decide that Hillary Clinton was not going to be charged until after he’d interviewed her in July of 2016. However, the FBI has released documents showing that the former FBI director began drafting his exoneration of Clinton months before agents had finished interviewing all the witnesses, including Clinton. Providing “materially false testimony to Congress” violates several rules of the New York Rules of Professional Conduct. Clevenger successfully petitioned a Maryland court to have the state bar investigate former aides to Hillary Clinton “for their effort in allegedly helping Hillary ‘destroy evidence.’” The Maryland judge said that the state bar was wrong to brush aside the petition and call the charges “frivolous.” The state requires that the bar investigate no matter who brings the charges. The outcome in the Maryland bar investigation is still pending.
