Showdown With Fusion GPS

Oct 18, 2017

Fusion GPS is the opposition research company that was hired to dig up dirt on Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign. On October 4, the House Intelligence Committee issued a subpoena to the company seeking to compel testimony from Glenn Simpson and two others. Attorneys for Fusion GPS responded on Monday saying that the three officials with the company intend to “invoke their constitutional privileges not to testify.” The attorneys told committee members in their letter that “the panel shouldn’t even bother to call Simpson to the hearing room . . . because he won’t answer their questions under any circumstances.” The attorneys for Fusion GPS attacked chairman Nunes saying that the subpoena violates his recusal and “undermines the legitimacy of [the] investigation.” The FBI has refused to provide answers to the House Intelligence Committee regarding the dossier. Several deadlines have passed for the agency to provide requested information.
