Hurricane Ophelia Heads for British Isles

Oct 16, 2017

As a category 3 hurricane, Ophelia is the most powerful storm ever recorded in the northeast Atlantic Ocean. It has maximum sustained winds of 110 miles per hour and is expected to bring heavy rain when it plows into Great Britain and then Ireland. This is a part of the world that rarely sees hurricanes although there are sometimes powerful storms in the north Atlantic.

Ophelia is expected to weaken somewhat when it gets into colder water it is still expected to do significant damage in a part of the world that is not prepared for this type of weather.
