Following its vote for independence Catalonia is preparing to take the next step this Monday and declare itself an independent country. This will constitute a major blow to both Spain and the European Union. Some are saying that the consequences can be worse than BREXIT. The leaders in Catalonia have indicated a willingness to negotiate the Spanish government, but that offer has been rejected. Ironically, the referendum for independence might not have passed if it wasn’t for the Spanish police using sometimes brutal measures to try and keep people from voting.
However, since Catalonia has its own language and culture the movement for independence has been growing for some time. Now there is a growing concern about possible civil war.
