Volunteers Fearful of Entering Mexico with Aid for Earthquake Victims

Oct 2, 2017

The violence that has swept through Mexico for years has not abated even with the devastating earthquakes. It has continued and now a group of volunteers who were trying to take supplies to areas outside of Mexico City was robbed by gunmen who raped one of the female volunteers, shot another male, and severely beat others.

The aid group has said that they could not get local authorities to provide them with any security for the trip. This is not the first such incident and it is even being reported that some aid convoys from the United States have even been robbed by members of the Mexican military. This has caused much of the private aid to dry up.
