President Campaigns for Luther Strange

Sep 23, 2017

The president vowed to support whoever wins Alabama’s runoff next Tuesday. "I told Luther, I have to say this, if his opponent wins, I'm going to be here campaigning like hell for him.” Currently Judge Roy Moore is leading in the polls. Despite the polls, Trump told rally attendees that Luther Strange has a good chance at winning the election. He said that Moore had “a very good chance of not winning in the general election.” Many of Trump’s allies inside and outside his administration support Roy Moore. Ben Carson publicly endorsed Moore on Friday. Even though Strange has the full support of establishment Republicans, the president made the astonishing claim that Strange was not at all closely aligned with the Republican establishment in D.C. That, in fact, Strange was “determined to drain the swamp.” It’s doubtful that Strange would even consider draining the establishment swamp that has poured millions of dollars into his campaign. It’s more likely that he would embrace the swamp.
