New Sanctions Placed on North Korea

Sep 22, 2017

President Obama has signed an Executive Order placing sweeping new sanctions on North Korea and its dictator Kim Jong Un. The sanctions are designed to further isolate the regime and hurt its economy so it has considerably less money to spend on its nuclear program. Essentially Trump told governments and companies that if you do business with North Korea you cannot do business with the U.S.

In addition, in a surprise move, China announced that it has ordered its central bank to order all Chinese banks to stop providing credit for companies to do new business with North Korea. The question is whether the Chinese will actually follow through with this.
