War of Rhetoric

North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un fired off a war of words in response to President Trump’s speech at the United Nations. On Tuesday, President Trump said, “The United States is a nation of great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.” North Korea responded by calling Trump a “barking dog.” Kim Jong Un personally responded on Thursday saying that the president’s remarks “convinced me, rather than frightening or stopping me, that the path I chose is correct and that it is the one I have to follow to the last.” He added that President Trump is “unfit to hold the prerogative of supreme command of a country.” President Trump signed an executive order that would severely sanction banks that do business with North Korea. China warned its banks to cut off transactions with North Korea as well.
