Desperate Rescues Continue in Mexico

Sep 21, 2017

Desperate rescue efforts are continuing non-stop in Mexico City and the area around it following the 7.1 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday that devastated the city. Many buildings collapsed including a school and some apartment buildings. In one elementary school the bodies of twenty children have been recovered, and 30 more children are still buried in the rubble.

Firefighters, members of the military, and hundreds of volunteers are frantically digging through the debris in the hope of finding other children still alive. Other locations are also being worked on, but the hope of finding survivors is dwindling with each passing hour. At this point 225 people are confirmed dead and over 1,000 injured.
