The collapse of the NFL as an American institution is not only continuing but seems to be accelerating. Attendance at games continues to be very low in some venues with tickets for this week’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams selling on the secondary market for as little as $14. The television audience across the nation continues to be low and the networks are facing the loss of up to $200 million in advertising revenue.
The combination of factors involved include the protests by players during the national anthem, the endless liberal political commentary by some broadcasters, and the generally poor play by many of the teams.
