Hurricane Maria Deals Severe Blow to Puerto Rico

Sep 21, 2017

The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico has been hit by a hurricane with force “not seen in modern history” Maria tore into the island with windsup to 175 miles per hour, rain fall in some areas in excess of two feet, major flooding, and landslides. The bankrupt American territory is totally without power and it may be months before it is restored in many places.

There has also been severe damage to homes and other buildings including hotels and hospitals. The U.S. Virgin Islands took a similar hit with St. Croix getting the worst of it. Reports are just coming in of massive damage in an area that was hard hit by Hurricane Irma just weeks ago.
