Former UN Ambassador Made 260 Unmasking Requests

Sep 21, 2017

President Obama’s UN Ambassador, Samantha Power, used her position on the National Security Council to unmask 260 people in 2016. Most of the unmasking was done in the “final months” of the Obama administration. Samantha Power’s attorney defended her saying she was “responsible for advising the President on the full-range of threats confronting the United States. Any insinuation that Ambassador Power was involved in leaking classified information is absolutely false.” While previous UN ambassadors have made requests to unmask Americans, none of done as many as Samantha Power. The former UN ambassador will testify before the Senate and House Intelligence committees. She’s expected to appear before the House Intelligence committee for a private session in October. Power is thought by some critics to have misused her power and position to unmask Americans.
