DOJ to Appeal Ruling on Sanctuary Cities

Sep 19, 2017

A liberal federal judge in San Francisco has declared that the executive order issued by President Trump restricting the giving of certain federal funds to sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities is illegal. The judge said that the order was probably unconstitutional and stayed its enforcement.

The Department of Justice has indicated it will appeal the ruling arguing that is constitutional and complies with current federal laws. It is also pointing out that it is an issue of protecting public safety since many of the illegals being protected and even released by sanctuary cities have committed additional crimes.
