Florida Facing Infection Epidemic

Sep 19, 2017

In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, residents of Florida are facing multiple problems. In many areas from Naples to Key West, there is no power or drinkable water and most of the houses and businesses were destroyed or severely damaged. In addition, there are many neighborhoods that are still heavily flooded. It is this standing water that is creating a whole new problem for people; the danger of infection.

This water is usually filthy with raw sewage in it and all types of possible toxic wastes. All of this adds up to creation of dangerous bacteria that can cause infections. People who are moving around in that water can develop serious infections very quickly if they even have a minor scratch. One person has already died and another lost a leg as a result of such infections.
