Manafort Wiretapped

Sep 19, 2017

President Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort was wiretapped twice during and after the 2016 presidential campaign. The first warrant “allegedly focused on his work consulting for the government of Ukraine.” The second warrant “was allegedly part of the ongoing investigation into Russia’s election meddling and any ties between Trump’s campaign and Moscow.” The second warrant was after the election and included a time period where Manafort spoke to president-elect Trump. It is not known if the FBI captured conversations of Manafort and Trump. Earlier in 2016, President Trump accused former President Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower. Manafort’s house was raided by the FBI in July as a part of the FISA warrant. During the raid, Manafort was told by the FBI to expect an indictment.
