United States Thinking of Closing Embassy in Cuba

Sep 18, 2017

After 21 American diplomats and family members have come down with a mysterious illness while living and working in Cuba, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has indicated that there is a possibility that it may be necessary to close the embassy. The cause of the illness is unknown with various theories being advanced, but no one seems to be sure

Symptoms include loss of hearing, headaches, mild brain trauma, and loss of cognitive ability among other things. The Cuban government claims it is not responsible and is investigating, and the U.S. government cannot find out who is responsible, but says the Cubans should be doing a better job of protecting embassy employees. Several members of the Canadian embassy have also been affected.
