The Value Of Donald Trump

Sep 18, 2017

As divisive and controversial President Trump is, he is almost single handily upholding the value of Twitter. “There is no better free advertising in the world than the president of the United States.” Were Twitter to ban the president, it is estimated that Twitter would lose twenty percent of its market value, according to analyst James Cakmak. Cakmak believes that by “losing its most prominent user” the “intangible value” of Twitter would “lead to what’s known as multiple compression.” According to Twitter, “daily active users rose 12 percent in the second quarter, compared with the same period in 2016.” As good as the president is for Twitter, the company is unable to monetize his value. According to Bloomberg, Twitter’s shares have lost 14 percent of their value since Trump won the presidency. Cakmak says, “What’s most important is the execution of the right strategy, since at the present state we find Twitter not capitalizing on the opportunity that’s in front of them.”
