Democrats Sought Out to Support Tax Reform

Sep 13, 2017

The White House is courting the support of three Democratic senators who represent red states. Manchin, Heitcamp, and Donnelly are all up for re-election. The Democratic senators are being asked to support reforming the tax code. The senators did not sign a letter from Minority Leader Schumer which outlined the “Democrat’s priorities on tax reform.” “Manchin said after the dinner that the group had a "productive conversation" on how to reform the tax code—one of the GOP's biggest agenda priorities.” If the Trump administration can get some Democratic support, it will make it easier to “negotiate a deal” with other Democrats. West Virginia Senator Manchin said, "I look forward to working with the President, the Administration and my Senate colleagues on both sides of the aisle on tax reform and going through regular order so we can help all Americans and West Virginians prosper.”
