At Least Ten Killed in the Caribbean by Irma

Sep 8, 2017

Hurricane Irma continues to hit the Caribbean hard with at least ten people reported killed on islands like St. Martin and Barbuda. St, Martin has been heavily damaged with damages not only to historic buildings on the island, but also large, more modern structures. Barbuda’s government is reporting that almost every structure on the island has been destroyed or damaged.

The British and U.S. Virgin islands have also been hit hard as have the islands of Turks and Caicos Islands as well as the Bahamas. Tens of thousands of people are without electricity and thousands are homeless. The Florida Keys are expected to have similar damage if they take a direct hit.
