Florida Attorney General Goes after Price Gougers

Sep 8, 2017

The Attorney General of Florida, Pam Bondi (R) has announced that she will take swift and decisive action to punish people and businesses that are price gouging in the path of powerful and dangerous Hurricane Irma. She has specifically called out businesses charging inflated prices for essentials like food, water, and gasoline. She reported that over 45 calls had come in about Chevron stations in the Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.

Questions have also been raise about Amazon where cases of bottle water were being offered for very high prices. Amazon blames outside vendors. However, Bondi did praise the airline industry for providing reasonable prices for people trying to flee the state.
