White House Staffers To Be Interviewed

Sep 8, 2017

Special Counsel Mueller is wanting to interview White House staffers about the White House’s initial response to a meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian attorney at Trump Tower. Investigators want to know “how the White House crafted a response to reports of the meeting, and whether information was deliberately left out.” An initial statement from Donald Trump Jr. said that the meeting was about adoption of Russian children by Americans. A subsequent statement said that Donald Trump Jr. was led to believe that a Russian lawyer would have incriminating information about Hillary Clinton. The role of the president in crafting the response is being investigated by Special Counsel Mueller. Investigators want to know if Trump knowingly made a false statement. News reports from the Washington Post said that the president “personally dictated the statement on Air Force One on the way home from the G20 summit in Germany.”
