Feinstein Under Fire; Liberals Try to Remove Her

Sep 8, 2017

Senator Dianne Feinstein is under fire for her remarks to a nominee for a federal appeals court. Senator Feinstein questioned Amy Barrett about her Catholic faith. Feinstein said, “The dogma lives loudly within you and that’s of concern.” The Catholic Association called Feinstein’s comments as a “shockingly illegitimate line of questioning.” Speaking for the Association, Ashely McGuire said, "Senator Feinstein's shockingly illegitimate line of questioning sends the message that Catholics need not apply as federal judges. Rather that unconstitutionally discriminating against Amy Barrett on the basis of her faith, Senator Feinstein should focus on her exceptional qualifications for the job." Liberal Democrats are trying to remove Feinstein from the Judiciary Committee. Recently at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, Feinstein suggested that President Trump “can be a good president.” A leftist activist group Credo Action said that Feinstein “is one of the last Democratic members who should be giving Trump a pass. Democratic Leader Senator Schumer must replace her.” So far the Minority Leader has not addressed the controversy.
