Food Crisis in Venezuela Getting Worse

Sep 6, 2017

A photo of two men in Caracas, Venezuela butchering a dog for food has been widely circulated by one of the opposition parties to the increasingly brutal dictatorship of Nicolas Maduro. It shows the desperation of the people in the country that has an economy on the verge of total collapse. Very few people in the country are getting three meals a day and children can be seen rummaging through garbage just to get anything to eat.

It has been reported that the average citizen has unintentionally lost 19 pounds in 2016. Animals are even being stolen from zoos by the starving population. Venezuelan citizens are also furious over the fact that Maduro has offered $5 million to Hurricane Harvey relief in an apparent attempt to endear him to the international left.
