Judge Fines Anti-Abortion Journalist

Sep 5, 2017

A district court judge in San Francisco “fined the undercover video journalist who exposed Planned Parenthoods alleged involvement in the fetal trafficking industry and his attorneys $200,000 for publishing online video footage of abortionists.” Federal Judge William Orrick said that he hoped the large fine would force defendant David Daleiden and his attorneys to comply with his order that bars further releases of video footage. Daleiden has appealed the gag order to the Supreme Court, citing the unconstitutionality of the order and that it violates his First Amendment rights. Research shows Judge Orrick helped to open and run a Planned Parenthood clinic. A motion is pending to disqualify Orrick on the grounds of bias and prejudice. Planned Parenthood celebrated the ruling saying, “Today’s decision to move forward with the criminal case is a clear victory for those of us who believe in the courts and the laws of California.” While Planned Parenthood denies “wrongdoing in the alleged sale of aborted baby body parts, Planned Parenthood announced in October 2015 that it would not longer take payment for fetal tissue.
