Paul Ryan Gets The Okay to Condemn Antifa

Aug 31, 2017

House Speaker Paul Ryan got the permission he needed from HouseMinority Leader Nancy Pelosi to condemn Antifa as “left-wing thugs.” Since Charlottesville, Speaker Ryan has been careful to condemn neo-Nazi white supremacists. But the House Speaker drew the line at condemning violent leftists. After President Trump said that there were people on “many sides” responsible for violence in Charlottesville, Ryan took to Facebook to say, “There are no sides.” On Tuesday Nancy Pelosi issued a statement condemning Antifa’s violence in Berkeley. “The violent actions of people calling themselves antics in Berkeley this weekend deserve unequivocal condemnation, and the perpetrators should be arrested and prosecuted.” That gave Speaker Ryan the freedom to finally issue his own condemnation of Antifa. His spokesman said, “Speaker Ryan believes, as is obvious, these individuals are left-ing thugs, and those who are committing violence need to be arrested and prosecuted. Antifa is a scourge on our country.”
