Conservative Try To Find Someone In White House To Talk To

Aug 29, 2017

The Trump administration has been so purged of conservatives and Republicans, that GOP members of the House and Senate do not know who to talk to in the White House. The legislative calendar will be full of difficult legislation that will need coordination with the White House. Reince Priebus “had spent years cultivating relationships on the Hill as chairman of the Republican National Committee” as well as reaching out to conservatives. White House Chief of Staff John Kelly is respected but he does not have the relationships with members of Congress that is needed to work through the legislative process. The president is seen as increasingly relying on Democrats, including his daughter and son-in-law and National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn. Conservatives want the president to appoint a true conservative who has the president’s ear and a relationship with conservative lawmakers.
