War of Words With North Korea

Aug 9, 2017

The Washington Post is reporting that North Korea can fit miniaturized warheads into its missiles. President Trump threatened to unleash “fire and fury” if North Korea launches a strike at the United States or its allies. In response, North Korea threatened to strike an American military base in Guam. The United States launched two B1B bombers on Monday. They flew across the Korean peninsula. Japanese and South Korean military aircraft also participated in the exercise. A North Korean statement said that the strategic bomber’s frequent flights over South Korea get on the nerves of North Korea. The statement said that the North Korean government is considering firing Hwasong-12 missiles towards U.S. military bases in Guam. Anderson Air Force Base has a anti-ballistic missile defense system installed which can shoot down incoming missiles in their reentry phase. The U.S. also has one inside of South Korea to deter North Korean aggression. With President Trump surrounding himself with generals, he will only get military answers. The president might be better off if he invites North Korea’s leader to Washington to talk.
