Alabama Senate Race

Aug 8, 2017

The senate race in Alabama is heating up. A week before the GOP primary, challenger Roy Moore leads the race followed by Rep. Mo Brooks. Luther Strange has fallen to third place. Luther Strange was picked by the former governor of Alabama to succeed Senator Jeff Sessions. He has the backing of Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell has raised and spent millions of dollars on behalf of Strange attacking Rep. Mo Brooks. Both Moore and Brooks are supportive of President Trump. Luther Stranger has not been vocal for his support of the president’s agenda. But he has been supportive of the Mitch McConnell/GOP agenda. Pollster John Couvillon said, “Despite his incumbency and up to $8 million dollars being spent on his behalf, Senator Luther Strange is struggling to connect with GOP primary voters in Alabama.” The top to finishers in the primary will face each other in a runoff in September.
