Silver Lining for Tories

Jun 12, 2017

Britain’s Conservative party fell seven seats short of a governing majority. British Prime Minister Theresa May will try to form a coalition government with the Irish Democrat Unionist Party (DUP). The DUP holds ten seats and puts a coalition government tantalizingly close. While, the irish Democrat Unionist Party is socially conservative and pro-Brexit, it’s main concerns are Northern Irish issues. During the election, Theresa May issued a manifesto taking a centre-left position. A coalition government with the DUP would likely force the Prime Minister to compromise on the manifesto and actually become a conservative party once again.
